BOZEMAN – A pair of grants totaling nearly $525,000 will enable Montana State University Library faculty and administrators to perform research that could affect data collection and information sharing. One is a $500,000, three-year grant for a project known as “Measuring Up: Assessing Use of Digital Repositories and the Resulting Impact.” With the funds, MSU – in partnership with OCLC Research, the Association of Research Libraries and the University of New Mexico – will investigate the difficulties libraries face in producing accurate reports of the use of their digital repositories through Web analytics. The second is a $24,924 grant to help the MSU Library enhance and improve its prototype software for publishing books within a Web browser.

Much of the world’s best data comes from the U.S. government and much of the best data in government comes from the Commerce Department, which publishes weather information, demographic numbers, economic stats and scientific standards. This is why Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker last summer declared her department “America’s data agency” and why a few days later New York University’s Governance Lab, known as GovLab, co-hosted an open data roundtable discussion with the White House and Commerce. Event participants said Commerce could improve data quality — specifically its completeness, validity and accuracy — to make it “cleaner,” with less noise and inaccuracy within data sets, according to the GovLab report on the roundtable, which was released this week.

Le elaborazioni dei dati pubblicati sul portale Open Expo si moltiplicano ma – come abbiamo scritto in un recente post su questo blog – spesso vengono inquinate da fatti di cronaca: nelle ultime settimane, prima ancora del dato, sono state le vicende giudiziarie a mettere in dubbio la tabella di marcia del cantiere di Expo 2015. Questo è il senso del post che ha fatto discutere, senza togliere importanza all’operazione trasparenza promossa dalla stessa società Expo Spa: la pubblicazione di questi dati, raccolti da 34 diverse direzioni lavori e di difficile lettura, sono la dimostrazione che mettere a disposizione informazioni così complesse non è sempre facile.

In support of the British Columbia governments Open Data Policy, similar to a mortgage. The standard time for loan repayment is usually no less than seven days and no longer than eighteen days. I notarize any and all documents! Land contracts are considered transfers and sales by lenders holding mortgages on the homes sold through those contracts. When they call my cell the number comes up as “341” They are now calling my work place so its really annoying and causing me grief with my administrator.

In part I of this series, I outlined the first steps in our collaboration with UNICEF and the Department of Mines, Geology and Water Resources (DGMWR) to introduce mobile-based data and asset management tools to Vanuatu as part of developing its national water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) database. Generally, this shift from “data free” to “real time” data would have been worth celebrating. But scarcely had we put down our beer bottles, than we had started planning for the next phase. This time, since the benchmarks were set so high, we wanted to use the baseline data collected through Akvo FLOW for ongoing monitoring using FLOW’s freshly minted continuous monitoring feature.
