Competition is fierce in the world of Hadoop, as a set of technology companies take freely available code and look for ways to differentiate themselves from one another. Some of that differentiation comes through their tweaks and changes to Hadoop’s code, but far more comes from the ways in which these companies choose to market both Hadoop and themselves. From an almost religious zeal for maintaining the purity of the open source project’s code, to the apparently more pragmatic philosophy that solutions to a customer’s current needs matter most, arguments continue to rage. The recent creation of a new group — the Open Data Platform — draws smaller players closer to one of the big three, but widens the rhetorical gulf between it and its strongest competitors.

The Center for Government Excellence at Johns Hopkins, established with a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies, aims to assist more than 100 U.S. cities in creating data infrastructures to transform the way their governments operate. The center is part of the university’s 21st Century Cities Initiative, a university signature initiative that brings together city leaders and top researchers to confront the pressing needs of revitalizing cities throughout the country and abroad. “Our focus is on resilient cities both here and around the world. We want to study 21st-century possibilities and challenges, and to adopt 21st-century solutions,” says Kathryn Edin, a sociologist in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, who has been named director of the 21CC initiative.

Want More Trees On Your Block? Getdctrees Makes It Easy To Ask For Them That empty box sitting across the street may well have a tree’s name on it—if only you’d ask. Any District resident can request a tree in an empty box or grass strip between the sidewalk and the street at 311.dc.gov. A new website is making it even easier to figure out which spots are available and submit a request. Getdctrees takes the city’s data on empty tree boxes and maps it clearly. Zoom in on a particular street, click on a dot, and a link will take you to the specific 311.gov page where you can copy in the address. During the planting season, which runs from October through May, D.C.’s Urban Forestry Administration will pop by and put in a tree.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is a big fan of data-driven government.  So much so that he’s donating $42 million to help cities get better at it. The “What Works Cities” initiative, announced April 20 by Bloomberg Philanthropies, is a program intended to help 100 mid-sized cities better use data and evidence.  Cities “have access to more data than ever – and they are increasingly using it to improve people’s lives,” Bloomberg said in a released statement.  “We’ll help them build on their progress, and help even more cities take steps to put data to work.

If you call the fire department in Mesa, Ariz., chances are it won’t respond with a big ladder truck. That’s because you probably don’t need one. Odds are that what you really need is medical attention, and if you do, the department will get it to you – in the form of a smaller truck staffed by a firefighter and a nurse’s assistant from a local hospital. The ladder trucks still roll out to actual fires, but saving them for that purpose and not sending a fully staffed one to every fire call that comes in have saved the city money and improved the quality of care for the people it serves. Those improvements are the result of a deep data analysis the city conducted several years ago, which found that 80 percent of its fire calls were actually medical issues.

みなさん、こんな経験はありませんか？

実は、話は簡単で時刻やバッテリーアイコンは黒だったので、見えなくなってしまったということなのです。

ViewControllerのデフォルト

info.plist（プロパティリスト）Key,Valueに以下のように値を設定してやります。

これだけで黒い背景に白字で時刻やバッテリーアイコンがされます。
