The concept of Open Data is about making data held by public bodies available and easily accessible online for reuse and redistribution. Open Data forms a core element of the Open Government Partnership national action plan which was published in July 2014 and significant work has been carried out to advance the Open Data Initiative since then. As public bodies have progressed in areas like eGovernment and data analytics, the potential of data and, in particular, open data to help deliver economic, social and democratic benefits has become clearer. Engagement with all interested stakeholders is a core element of Ireland’s approach to Open Data.

As the amount of data continues to grow and as technological barriers begin to subside, researchers increasingly want to share their own or gain access to other’s research data.

Defra’s plan to publicly release 8,000 datasets over the next 12 is expected to drive innovation across the agricultural sector, but ensuring a sustainable, consistent supply of open data will be vital for further benefits, says Open Data Institute policy lead Ellen Broad Last week environment secretary Liz Truss launched a new era for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra): #opendefra. Over the next 12 months, Defra will be making 8,000 datasets available as open data, to support new businesses, invite community-driven innovation and make UK food and farming more competitive than ever. The Environment Secretary is intent on tapping into the economic potential in open food, agriculture and environment data, the fruits of which are already being harvested.

Research published today in GigaScience has taken hundreds of ecology datasets and created an open database, known as LAGOS (LAke multi-scaled GeOSpatial and temporal database), spanning a significant chunk of North America and tens of thousands of lakes. GigaScience has asked one of the creators, Pat Soranno, Professor at Michigan State University’s Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, and her team, more about this data resource. Macrosystems ecology recognizes that there are important interactions that happen at regional and continental scales too. By definition, macrosystems ecology is multi-scaled, data-intensive, interdisciplinary, and team-based.

Representatives from 44 cities gathered in Miami last week. Why were so many cities, ranging from the bucolic to the megalopolis, gathered together? It’s part of a major rethinking of the role of the federal government in the lives of city dwellers. Instead of just giving grants (or taking them away) the federal government and city executives think through their opportunities and implement innovative ideas. This gathering is their second annual national gathering of peer cities. As a strategic partner to this White House led initiative, Civic Consulting USA was invited to participate. I heard 44 different accomplishment and 44 different challenges.

WATERLOO — Waterloo is making a pitch to convert the Carnegie library on Albert Street to an open data hub. “I’m pretty excited that it’s going to be a cool place and, similar to a library, it will be a learning place — a place where people can collaborate,” Coun. Angela Vieth said. Politicians are expected to vote in the fall on a zoning change that would allow the building to also be used for “maker spaces,” post-secondary and government uses, new office space, research and development and studio space. It’s currently being used by Habitat for Humanity as office space. Ryan Mounsey, manager of expansion and retention services, said some of the definitions are new and need to be worked out ahead of the zone change vote.

ついにiOS 8.3の脱獄が可能に。 iOS 8.4にアップデートするのは得策か！？

TaiG脱獄ツールv2.1.3は、Cydiaアプリのインストールをサポートする中国ジェイルブレーキング・チームがリリースした新しい最新バージョンだ。
現在では、TaiG脱獄ツールv2.1.3が動作するのはWindwos PCのみだ。
Macしかなければ、Windowsの仮想環境で使用することも可能だ。

アップルは、iOS 8.4を6月30日にリリースした。
iOS 8.3が脱獄できるようになった今、脱獄iOS 8.3にするか、8.4に更新するを決めかねてしまうが、ユーザーがなぜiOS 8.3脱獄を行ってはならないかというなんらかの要因がここにある。

1.低いパフォーマンス

8.3の脱獄がiPhoneとiPadでCydiaアプリを楽しむためにユーザーに与えるiOS。
しかし、iOS 8.3脱獄の性能は脱獄前よりも悪くなる場合がある。
Tech Hive(http://www.techhive.com)によると、ユーザーは、バグ、非常事態、アプリの突然の破損、ランダムな再起動といった問題に遭遇する可能性があるという。

2.メーカー保証の終了

アップルは、脱獄した iPhoneとiPadに技術サポートを提供しない。
脱獄の実行は、デバイスの保証を失うことを意味する。
それでも、ユーザーはiPhoneまたはiPadでiOSの出荷時の状態に戻すことはできるので、アップルの保証を受けられなくはないが・・・

3.公式の最新版OSへのアップデートができない

一旦iPhoneまたはiPadを脱獄すると、アップルからiOS 8.4以上の最新OSへの更新サービスを受けることができなくなる。しかし、アップルからの最新版は手動で脱獄したデバイスにインストールすることができる。
しかし、一旦公式最新版がインストールされると、ユーザーは脱獄を楽しむことはできない。

4.アップルミュージックへアクセスできない

iOS8.4の最大の特徴はApple Music（新しいストリーミングミュージック・サービス）だ。
iOS 8.4へアップグレードしたユーザだけがApple Musicを使うことができる。

Cydiaアプリでjailbroken iOS 8.3を使い続けるユーザーは、Apple Musicを利用することができない。
しかし、多くの他の人気のストリーミングミュージック・サービス（Spotify、Pandora Radio）がある。
