GDS open data lead will now be responsible for outlining cross-government information strategy following departure of Mike Bracken Paul Maltby has been appointed as the government’s director of data – a new role that will require him to lead a cross-government programme around information use. Following the departure of chief data officer and Government Digital Service (GDS) executive director Mike Bracken – who is understood to be stepping down from both roles today – Maltby will take up an entirely new Whitehall role. He is also director of open data and government innovation in the Cabinet Office. It is understood that no decision has yet been taken by the government concerning the future of the chief data officer position.

Hotel accommodation in the centre of Manchester during the weekends tends to be quite high priced due to high demand for sporting events, nightlife and various cultural activities that take place in the city over the weekend. The accommodation for the weekend of ODCAMP whilst not being impacted by either of the two Manchester Premiereship clubs playing at home, is affected by the England v Uruguay, Rugby World Cup match  taking place at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening. There is still some budget dormitory hostel accommodation available (Hatters and Hilton Chambers Hostel) but most hotels are offering rooms at around £170 per night at the moment.

ベンに値するはオープン政府パートナーシップとバークベック カレッジで政治の講師の IRM います。 英国の 2013年-15 OGP の進行状況レポートは、水曜日に掲載されました。ここでベンに値する、英国の独立したレポート機構研究員を英国の第 2 国家行動計画の発表以来進捗状況を反映します。 英国政府は、その 2 番目国家行動計画のオープンな政府提携プロセスの一部として作成された終わりに近づいています。計画は、2013 年に市民社会グループ (ここでの歴史を参照) の協同は策定 21 開かれた政府のコミットメントのシリーズです。政府自体は一連の更新とどのようにそれに沿って行ってしまったに対する自己評価を公開しました。

Ben Worthy is the IRM for the Open Government Partnership and a Lecturer in Politics at Birkbeck College. The UK’s 2013-15 OGP Progress Report was published on Wednesday. Here Ben Worthy, the UK’s Independent Reporting Mechanism researcher, reflects on progress since the publication of the UK’s second National Action Plan. The UK government is now nearing the end of its Second National Action Plan created as part of the Open Government Partnership process. The plan is a series of 21 open government commitments drawn up in 2013 with the co-operation of civil society groups (see a history here). The government itself published a series of updates and self-assessments on how it has done as it went along.

More than 35,000 people around the globe help make their communities and governments work better through the Code for America network. Here’s a brief snapshot of what happened across the network this week: Blue Ridge Labs, a poverty fighting civic tech organization in NYC, announced their five 2015 Fellowship projects. One of the projects, called Duckling, provides small loans to college students using lending circles and simple loan terms through a mobile interface. Enigma.io‘s new project Smoke Signals, uses open data and machine learning to predict which neighborhoods and buildings are most unlikely to have smoke alarms. The Red Cross has a complimentary project underway to provide and install free smoke alarms to the buildings identified.

What do the 10,000 ongoing road projects nationwide mean? They are ‘about building better futures,’ about bringing people to schools, healthcare services, jobs MANILA, Philippines – It’s 2015, but many roads remain unpaved, especially in remote areas. Many communities also still experience difficulty receiving basic public services due to poor road networks. Open data seeks to close that gap to better connect communities, as well as promote transparency in the implementation of road projects. World Bank senior economist Kai Kaiser presented an online platform for the initiative during Rappler’s Innovation+SocialGood Summit on Saturday, September 26. The OpenRoads project is part of the government’s Open Data Initiative and is supported by funding from the World Bank.

Of the two crore pending cases, two-thirds are criminal At the rate at which cases were disposed of by district courts last month, India could get rid of all pending cases in 10 years, an analysis of new official data shows. However, six States — Bihar, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Jammu & Kashmir — disposed of fewer cases than were filed during the month. Last week, the Supreme Court launched the public access portal of the National Judicial Data Grid with updated information on civil and criminal cases filed and disposed every day in India’s district courts. ] At the moment, the portal has data for 15,340 judges in 459 district courts and information on the performance of these courts for the last month.
