In efforts to foster police data transparency and accountability in Indianapolis, the city’s Code for America fellows and the Indianapolis Department of Public Safety created Comport, an open data toolkit that lets  public safety teams quickly create an open data site by uploading existing internal affairs data and adding contextual information about policies and programs. Project Comport was launched Nov. 14 and opens internally collected data – on officer-involved shootings, resident complaints against law enforcement, assaults on law enforcement and uses of force by law enforcement –that has never been made public before, according to Code for America.

An app aimed at helping motorists find a suitable car park and then remind them when they may need to move their car has won first prize in Sunshine Coast Hackfest 2015.Designed by local duo Sean Bannister, of Birtinya, and 15-year-old Jordan Josic from Caloundra, the parking app was selected as the best “hack” to come out of the inaugural three-day event that attracted some of the Sunshine Coast’s brightest minds and “outside the box” thinkers.”Sunshine Coast Parking aims to make it easy for anyone to find a free and available car park on the Sunshine Coast,” Sean said.”It will use sensors installed in car parks across the Coast, or other information, to help to turn our car parks into smart car parks.

An effort to increase the use of data and evidence in public sector decision-making gained new momentum Thursday when 13 new cities were added to the What Works Cities initiative. The program, spearheaded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the charitable arm of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, was launched last April to help U.S. cities use data analytics and other technology tools to address issues facing their metropolitan areas, including economic development, job creation, public safety and affordable housing. The newest selection of U.S. cities to make the list have “publicly committed to enhance their use of data and evidence to improve services, inform local decision making and engage residents,” according to a statement released by the organization.

Amongst a flurry of activity including news of support for limiting global warming to 1.5°C and a high-level address by foreign Minister Julie Bishop, the first COP Buildings Day was held. Open records advocates are accusing an obscure board that oversees state public records of overstepping its authority when it on requirements to maintain records deemed to have only “temporary usefulness.” Just one day after the Public Records Board’s vote in August, Gov. Scott Walker’s administration denied a records request from a newspaper for some text messages, saying officials do not have to retain such transitory messages. “We’re really bothered by and concerned about what was done. We believe it was an overreach of their authority,” said Beth Bennett, executive director of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association. “I don’t believe that this board can take records that are currently available under the state records law and make them exempt.

In a recent paper published in the journal Information Processing in Agriculture, entitled  “Exposing vocabularies for soil as Linked Open Data”  . Giovanni L’Abate , Caterina Caracciolo , Valeria Pesce , Guntram Geser , Vassilis Protonotarios , and  Edoardo A.C. Costantini review standards for describing soil data and reports on the work done with the EC funded agINFRA project to apply Linked Data technologies to existing standards and data in order to improve the interoperability of soil datasets. The paper sets the tone by detailing current developments in data interoperability and  ‘semantic interoperability’ – and further provides AGRIS and AGROVOC as the examples of the adoption of the linked data approach in the agricultural domain.

PyQueryを使ったアプリをpy2exeしたときに動かなかったときのメモ

PyQueryを使ったアプリをpy2exeしたときに、実行時に「ImportError: No module named cssselect」がでることがあります。

ちょっとハマぅたのでメモを残しておきます。

この問題の解決手順は次のとおりです。

githubからcssselectのZIPしてきて解凍します。

解凍したファイルの中に次のようなフォルダ・ファイルがありますので、
これをC:\Python27\Lib\site-packages配下に入れるとエラーがでなくなりました。

cssselect/__init__.py
cssselect/parser.py
cssselect/tests.py
cssselect/xpath.py

py2exeのエラーには悩まされますね。
