The CRTC has directed cable TV companies to allow customers to choose individual channels, and small bundles of them, in addition to a basic package that ensures access to Canadian networks. The CRTC says the service should be available by March 1. But how will customers find out about offerings, prices, etc.? Cable companies should publish lists containing: the names of the channels, the numbers of those channels in the customer’s locality and a brief description of typical program content. These lists should also contain price and bundling information, whether or not the channels are high definition and how to arrange your choices with the cable company. They could be published in newspapers, on a dedicated cable channel and on cable company websites.
