University project sets out to build open datastore for UK councils Initiative aims to make life easier for new users or those with limited analytical resources The Geographic Data Science lab at the University of Liverpool is building an open datastore for every local authority in the UK. The initiative, detailed in a blog post , got underway earlier summer, backed by the ESRC Consumer Data Research Centre. The blog explains that using open data can be challenging, especially for new users or those with limited analytical resources. The blog post says, “It can be difficult to find what data are available, the formats can be confusing (or in some cases not that open!), and an advanced level of software skill may be required for their analysis.
