The U.S. Commerce Department has introduced the 19 government and industry executives who make up the agency’s newly formed data advisory council. “Together, they will help us make our data easier to access and use, and maximize the return of data investments for entrepreneurs, government, businesses, communities and taxpayers,” Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker said Wednesday. Commerce Data Advisory Council members will each serve a two-year term and advise agency leaders on open data management, public-private collaboration and policy development. The advisers hold information technology experience and come from the local government, nonprofit, academic and commercial sectors.
