The team that created TaxBackPHL.com as part of the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association and Webjunto’s April 21 #OpenGov Hackathon at Philly Tech Week walked away with the first place prize of $1,000. Hackathon participants were tasked with creating the best piece of media that increases or improves transparency in government. Projects could be presented in a variety of forms – from apps to websites to social media  – anything to create the most compelling case to the widest possible audience in support of tracking the spending of tax dollars and understanding the actions of government agencies. New digital chief role will oversee digital transformation of Welsh public sector based around open data and standards The Welsh government has announced its intention to appoint a chief digital officer (CDO) in order to oversee a wider digital transformation of public sector service delivery at a national and local level. The appointment has been announced as part of a recently released ‘Digital First’ strategy paper that outlines initial aims for overhauling devolved services provided in Wales. These aims include setting out intentions for a national open data framework, open source standards and national domain names.

The ODP (Open Data Platform), a consortium of vendors attempting to produce a base Hadoop distribution, is bearing its first real fruit — but it’s unlikely to satisfy critics. Two of the key figures in ODP, Pivotal and Hortonworks, have collaborated to certify Pivotal’s Hawq, an SQL interface for Hadoop data, on the HDP (Hortonworks Data Platform) distribution of Hadoop. Hawq was, and is, a key component of Pivotal’s Big Data Suite, a set of components for Hadoop that Pivotal had previously only made available as a proprietary product. Earlier this year, Pivotal relented and open-sourced the Big Data Suite components — Hawq, the Gemfire NoSQL database, and the Greenplum analytics systems — under various licenses.

Hadoop distributor MapR declined an invitation to be part of a vendor consortium centered on the Hadoop stack. MapR CEO John Schroeder explained the company’s decision in a post last week, deriding the consortium definition of Hadoop’s core as “vendor-biased.” The consortium calls itself the Open Data Platform, which is a bit of an odd title given how platform is generally defined in the industry. In February, the group revealed its founding Platinum members as GE, Hortonworks, IBM, Infosys, Pivotal, SAS and an undisclosed international telecom. Gold members include Altiscale, Capgemini, CenturyLink, EMC, Splunk, Verizon Enterprise Solutions, Teradata and VMware.

Nearly 4,000 people have been counted dead and nearly 7,000 injured since a 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook Nepal on Saturday. A crucial need in any rescue effort — perhaps just as important to saving lives as medical supplies, food, and tents — is an up-to-date map that humanitarian workers can use to more efficiently navigate the rubble. It seems miraculous that tiny, impoverished Nepal has that. The credit goes to the international community of citizen cartographers behind Open Street Map (OSM), a free, open-data map of the world that anyone can edit or download.

PRIME Minister Mizengo Pinda challenged the national statistical office, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), to explore possibilities of cooperation with local government authorities to improve data collection at grassroots level. “Without high-quality data that provide right information on right things at the right time to the right people, designing, monitoring and evaluating effective policies become impossible,” the premier said in Dar es Salaam while officiating at a three-day International Statistical Institute (ISI) high level workshop on leadership and management. The workshop brought together over 50 top-level Managers of National statistics offices from 31 Anglophone African countries.

ストーリーボードで、コントロールと紐付けをしてあげると以下のようなコードが自動的に挿入されます。

変数の最後（行末）に感嘆符（!）が付いていますが、これはいったい何者でしょうか？

@IBOutlet var yourAge:UITextField!

これは、yourAgeがOptional型だということを意味しています。

つまり、yourAgeは、『空(nil)を許容しますよ』ということです。
