python 2.7.9のOpenSSLが古いせいかもしれない。

Python 2.7.10にアップデートしたら、エラーは解消された。

As a coder of many years, I am a keen believer in writing everything once and being able to use it in multiple places. In the coding world, thanks to open data formats and widely supported APIs we can generally have one central set of content and use it for different applications and use cases, all nicely in sync. In the desktop design world, this has traditionally been harder, with sources of content in Word documents, InDesign files and maybe some content management systems or spreadsheets. Imagine my delight when I by chance came across Porky, an open source InDesign extension (well, actually a script) that lets you connect your InDesign files to a variety of data sources.

Bloomberg is adding new features to increase the accessibility of its FIGI open source financial instrument identification system. The new online tools are intended to make it easier for instrument issuers to request identifiers and for exchanges, data providers, custodians and others to map other third-party identifiers to FIGI. FIGI, which stand for Financial Instruments Global Identifier, is a free open data standard that provides unique identifiers across all global asset classes, including syndicated loans, common stock, options, derivatives, futures, corporate and government bonds, municipals, currencies and mortgage products.

Amen Ra Mashariki leads Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Office of Data and Analytics (MODA). Named to his current position in November 2014, he previously worked at Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Lab, as a White House fellow and most recently as chief technology officer for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. We caught up with him to talk about how the city is putting analytics and open data to use to improve operations. MODA takes on agencies as clients around analytics projects. We put together a suite of analytics projects in partnership with the Small Business Services agency, and one of those projects is Business Atlas.
