Pittsburgh officials Monday launched Burgh’s Eye View , an app that includes a range of public records such as crime statistics, building code violations and excessive noise complaints. The Department of Innovation & Performance’s Analytics and Strategy team built the app, which is also available as a website, as part of an effort to increase public transparency. “Burgh’s Eye View brings that transparency directly to the citizens of Pittsburgh, and more importantly transforms the experience of open government — by making it truly accessible to everyone,” Mayor Bill Peduto said.

On Monday afternoon, the White House blog announced the protocol for the first official transition process between presidencies for the social media accounts. As the first president to have a true social media presence, Obama has transformed the way the president connects to constituents. The first Twitter handle, @POTUS, was established back in 2015; this isn’t surprising since Twitter is only two years older than Obama’s time in office. He modernized fireside chats by addressing citizens questions on YouTube. And, a satirical video presented at his last White House Correspondent’s Dinner included him experimenting with Snapchat filters.

There is a specific issue with the Facebook in-app browser intermittently making requests to websites without cookies that had previously been set. This appears to be a defect in the browser which should be addressed soon. The simplest approach to avoid this problem is to continue to use the Facebook app but not use the in-app browser.

Windsor film festival goers: Imagine the usefulness of an app that tells you exactly what screenings you are missing because you’re at a different movie. All right, it’s not useful. But it’s one example of the ways downtown Windsor’s Hackforge played with data for the upcoming 2016 edition of the Windsor International Film Festival (Nov. 1-6). Hackforge member Randy Topliffe came up with the “Fear of Missing Out” app, which he admits was not meant to be helpful. “It’s a different spin on things,” he said with a snicker. About seven people turned out for Hackforge’s Hack the Afternoon with WIFF event on Sunday — meant to be a creative exercise using the “open data” of the WIFF 2016 film schedule. “We’re interested in popularizing open data.

At the beginning of Open Access week, Alice discussed how articles published in the BES journals can be made more accessible and discoverable, and what Open Access (OA) options are available to authors of papers published in BES journals. The BES Journals are hybrid journals (publishing both subscription and OA content) but our data archiving policy means that the underlying data supporting the results in the papers is always publicly accessible. One reason that we mandate the archiving of data is to encourage data reuse, and as this links with the theme for Open Access week of ‘Open in action’ I thought I’d take a look at the trends in data archiving across the BES journals.

The province’s municipalities will work with the provincial government to be more transparent with councillors’ and staff expenses. The announcement comes after a forensic audit of Richmond’s councillors and CAO expenses revealed that taxpayers were paying for air travel upgrades, alcohol and adult night club expenses, as well as meal per diems and credit card charges for the same period. Zach Churchill, minister of the Department of Municipal Affairs, said earlier this week that his department is looking at amending the Municipal Government Act to ensure all municipalities are following the highest standards of accountability and transparency.

FMV(LIFEBOOK AH52/DA　2011年モデル)のハードディスクを交換してみた

愛用していた富士通製パソコン(LIFEBOOK AH52/DA　2011年モデル)のハードディスクが調子が悪くなってきたいので、交換したときのメモです。
他のAH77/D、AH56/D、AH54/Dでも同じようなものだと思うので、参考にはなるかと思います。

本当は調子が悪くなってからでは遅いのですが、ハードディスク代をケチったのが失敗でした。^^;
必要なファイルはバックアップすることができましたが、Windowsはクリーンインストールするハメになりました。

ハードディスクは故障する前に定期的に交換するほうがよいでしょう。
ハードディスクをコピーする機器は安価に購入できるので、１つ購入しておくと安心です。
ちなみに私が使用しているのはInateck FD2002という製品で、アマゾンで3,299円で購入することができました。

Inateck FD2002を使えば、下の写真のように古いハードディスクから新品のハードディスクにボタン一つでカンタンにコピーすることができます。
ただし、修復機能を備えているわけではありませんので、不良セクタのあるハードディスクはコピーすることができないので要注意です。

今回の場合は、ハードディスクに不良セクタがあったため、Inateck FD2002を使用してもコピーすることができませんでした。

パソコン（FMV)のハードディスクが壊れたのでディスクを交換してみる

さて、ここからLIFEBOOKのハードディスク交換作業に入ります。
この手の大型ノートは、ハードディスクの取り出しが簡単にできるので交換は非常に簡単です。
以下の写真のように裏面の2箇所のネジをプラスドライバーで外すだけでハードディスクにアクセスできます。

2つのネジを外して、フタを取り外せばハードディスクとご対面です。

ハードディスクは、金具と2箇所のネジで固定されています。
2箇所のネジを外して、左側にスライドさせれば、ハードディスクを本体から取り外すことができます。
左側が取り出したハードディスク(TOSHIBA MK6475GSX)、右側が新しく購入したハードディスク(TOSHIBA MQ01ABD100)です。
金具を新しいハードディスクに付け替えて、本体に取り付ければ完了です。

今回、購入したハードディスクは1TB(テラバイト)のTOSHIBA MQ01ABD100です。
