The City of Jackson is sticking to its promise of open government. Monday morning, Mayor Tony Yarber explained the open data portal, which is accessible to the public. Anyone should be able to find data on police, public safety, education, improvement projects, and more. Data about infrastructure improvements will be broken down by ward. “We wanted people to be able to go and look live time what’s happening, how it’s being done,” said Mayor Yarber. “You can look by project type, look and see by what ward you’re in.” Jackson was one of eight cities chosen by Bloomberg last year to receive money for the data portal.
