By Sophia Sanchez on Nov 14, 2015 with Comments 0 Microsoft announced Wednesday it put its data centers under the control of Deutsche Telekom that will keep privacy-sensitive Germans’ customer data in the country and under jurisdiction of German law. With the data centers under the control of a German company, any requests for access to the data by the USA spy agencies will have to go through the German government. The measure is created to ensure that clients’ data remains in Germany, Microsoft chief Satya Nadella said in Berlin. The underlying context here is ongoing European concern over US government mass surveillance practices and the impact those intelligence dragnets are having on the perception of data security in the commercial cloud.
