Over 1,500 representatives from civil society organizations, businesses, and governments gathered in Mexico City on October 28-29 for the Open Government Partnership’s Global Summit, with special attention this year on the role that open government can play in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Post-2015 Development Agenda. In Asia editor Alma Freeman spoke with three Asia Foundation experts who participated in the Summit – John Karr, Ellen Boccuzzi, and Mark Koenig – for their reactions. The rallying cry of the Summit was how Open Government Partnership can help deliver the new SDGs, culminating with a declaration in support of the 2030 Agenda, which outlines the importance of OGP’s core values of transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.
