The What Works Cities initiative began this year, and Tulsa is one of the first participants. “We are excited about the opportunity to show our public commitment to open data and delve deeper internally to make more data from every city department available and accessible to all,” Mayor Dewey Bartlett said. For several years, Tulsa has worked closely with Code for Tulsa, a civic technology group that has worked with city staff voluntarily to provide city-data repositories for public consumption. Luke Crouch, a Code for Tulsa leader, said he hopes the announcement Wednesday will lead to long-term plans for the city’s open data efforts.
