Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced today that it would be investing close to 1.9 billion dollars on opening two data centres in Europe. The company becomes the latest US tech giant to open computing centres in the region amid a tightening regulatory environment across Europe with many European lawmakers wanting tech companies to keep data collected from users in Europe. The two data centres would be opened in Denmark and Ireland would span over 166,000 square metres, the company said. It was also disclosed that Ireland would also serve as the company’s European Headquarters. The data centres would go live in 2017 and would be used to store data for varied services like iTunes and Siri.
