Azavea wants to see your best Philadelphia data visualization. As part of the Knight Foundation-funded upgrade to data portal OpenDataPhilly, Callowhill GIS firm Azavea will feature up to ten visualizations that use Philly data on the new site, which is slated to launch in December. Winners may get small prizes, like an Amazon gift card, said Azavea CEO Robert Cheetham. (The contest isn’t part of the Knight grant, Cheetham said. Azavea is running and funding this on its own.) Though news site (and OpenDataPhilly “steward”) AxisPhilly shut down less than two months after the Knight grant was awarded to update the data portal, Temple University, which incubated AxisPhilly, and Azavea are committed to carrying out the update, Cheetham said.
