Microsoftは、HoloLens ARヘッドセットの次のイテレーションではディープラーニングのコプロセッサも含まれる予定だという。

同社は設計や複合現実感装置のためのホログラフProcessing Unit(HPU)と呼ばれる独自のカスタムマルチプロセッサを構築する。

HPUは、搭載されたセンサからの情報を処理する(慣性計測は、ヘッドトラック、および赤外線追跡など。

MicrosoftのHPUチップもAIコプロセッサ、ネイティブディープニューラルネットワークを導入し、認識精度を向上させることが含まれる。

チップは、Microsoftによって完全にプログラム可能なさまざまなレイヤのタイプをサポートしています。

Microsoft said the next iteration of its HoloLens AR headset will include a deep-learning coprocessor. The company designed and built its own custom multiprocessor called the Holographic Processing Unit (HPU) for its mixed-reality device. The HPU processes information from onboard sensors – such as inertial measurement, head tracking, and infrared tracking. Microsoft’s HPU chip will also include an AI coprocessor, which will natively implement Deep Neural Networks, improving recognition accuracy. The chip supports a wide variety of layer types which are fully programmable by Microsoft.
