CURES CURED?: It’s back to 21st Century Cures optimism season, our Health Care colleagues Jennifer Haberkorn and Sarah Karlin report. Rep. Fred Upton, the leader of the massive biomedical innovation bill, says a deal is close. So close, in fact, it may be announced next week. Even more tantalizing — for health IT industry folks who really want movement on FDA oversight changes — is that the bill might move really quickly through the House and get approved by the chamber before the month is up. The question, of course, has centered on funding, notably for the cancer moonshot and the National Institutes of Health, which congressional Democrats have been agitating for.
