ZURICH, March 29 (Reuters) – Swiss engineering company ABB is considering making acquisitions, particularly in artificial intelligence, Chief Executive Ulrich Spiesshofer said on Thursday. “We will continually further expand the portfolio of ABB,” he said, speaking on the sidelines of the company’s annual general meeting in Zurich. This would include investment in organic growth in artificial intelligence (AI), and partnerships with other companies to accelerate areas like linking AI to industrial robots.

Now a new survey is taking a look at what the average person thinks.According to Conversica, a majority of Americans are already using AI in things like their phone or Alexa. Fifty-seven percent believe AI will help improve their lives.But 68 percent of San Franciscans say people have reservations about AI because they are worried about being replaced.Alex Terry with Conversica spoke to ABC7 News on Monday about this new survey.

Moscow/Toronto: Moscow-based Kaspersky Lab plans to open a data centre in Switzerland to address Western government concerns that Russia exploits its anti-virus software to spy on customers, according to internal documents seen by Reuters. Kaspersky is setting up the center in response to actions in the United States, Britain and Lithuania last year to stop using the company’s products, according to the documents, which were confirmed by a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

The fintech revolution at Swiss insurer Baloise is in full swing: the company has eyed up a German company that tries to get rid of human error. Baloise is investing in Omni:us, a Berlin-based company specialized in identifying and extracting key data from a stream of documents, the Swiss firm said in a statement on Tuesday. The software of Omni:us knows to put handwritten texts from historic and modern-day origin in their right context. The aim is to shift monotonous and costly administrative work into the hands of a computer, eliminating the error-prone human factor.

Bezos is currently attending Amazon’s invite-only MARS conference. MARS stands for Machine learning, home Automation, Robotics, and Space exploration. It was at the MARS conference last year that Bezos famously piloted a 13-foot robot from Hankook Mirae Technology.
