SEOUL, May 11 (Yonhap) — U.S. tech giant Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday it plans to open two data centers in South Korea, in line with its efforts to expand cloud computing services here. Microsoft said it will open data centers in Seoul and Busan, respectively, in the first half of 2017. The facilities will play key roles in its cloud computing services, the company added. The U.S. giant said the location was based on various criteria, including accessibility of power sources and workforces. The data centers will provide local Microsoft users with faster speed in its cloud computing-related services. Cloud computing solutions allow users to access their photos, documents and other content saved on a server through smartphones and PCs.
