BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ–(Marketwired – April 29, 2016) – Speros Kokenes, Director of Axis Group’s Visual Analytics Practice, won first place in Qlik’s Open Data Challenge this week with his Qlik Sense application “Across Borders.” “I’m excited about the win and happy to have had the opportunity to participate in the challenge. Qlik can be a powerful tool for integrating and exploring open data sets and it was fun to dive into this space,” Kokenes said. Created by Kokenes and Caitlin Daugherty, “Across Borders” uses data from the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to explore the statistics of people around the world who are forced to flee their homes. The interactive app visualizes their origin and asylum countries, as well as the key events that correspond with their displacement.
