Pennsylvania is working on an open data portal that will contain downloadable and machine-readable data, according to an executive order. Gov. Tom Wolf issued the order (pdf) April 18 to create the portal, which would improve upon the state’s existing transparency site, PennWATCH. The site does not currently offer downloadable, machine-readable data, according to an article at Government Technology. “One of our most valuable and underutilized resources in state government is data,” Wolf said in a press release. “Our goal is to make data available in order to engage citizens, create economic opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs, and develop innovative policy solutions that improve program delivery and streamline operations.
