But can users really find useful information in this data? We show that they cannot … but we have a solution. The world’s leading open-source data portal platform is CKAN. CKAN provides powerful tools to streamline publishing, sharing, finding and using data. CKAN is actively maintained by the Open Knowledge Foundation and is used by most governments around the world to publish open data. 139 other major public organisations around the world, including the US government and the UK government, publish data using CKAN.
