The data that is produced and held by the Australian Government is a national resource with the potential to help grow the economy, stimulate innovation, improve service delivery and efficiencies across Government and transform policy outcomes for the nation. Australia’s capacity to remain competitive in the global digital economy depends on how well we can harness the value of this public data. Data volumes are growing exponentially and so too is the potential value of public data. Publishing, linking and sharing this data can create opportunities that neither Government nor business can currently envisage.
