This past weekend, leading data scientists and practitioners gathered for what was hailed as another successful Open Data Science conference in San Francisco. Why would 1,100 people wake up early on a Saturday morning to attend ODSC West? Among many reasons, ODSC West offered attendees 20 hands-on workshops and more than 50 talks, ranging from introductory talks on Python And R in Data science to more advanced topics like machine learning and predictive analytics. ODSC West attracted world-renowned speakers, including data science luminaries Brian Granger, Wes McKinney, Anthony Goldbloom, Claudia Perlich, Owen Zhang and Andreas Mueller. Participants were introduced to open source tools like scikit-learn and Jupyter and encouraged to become their contributors.
