Nebraska earned five F grades on the Center for Public Integrity’s recent “State Integrity” project. Here’s why: Public access to information — The state is not required to publish government data online in an open format. That decision is left to individual agencies. Political financing — Nebraska received its lowest score here, largely because of the lack of limits on campaign donations. Executive accountability — There is no regular auditing of assets controlled by executive officials (e.g. the governor), and asset disclosure forms are not published online. Information about an official’s assets and business activities could help determine whether that person has a conflict of interest.
