A free online mapping tool enabling users to overlay 50 different types of infrastructure assets in Greater Manchester has been created by policy advisor New Economy along with Salford City Council and funded by the Cabinet Office’s Release of Data Fund. The open data service provides a range of details including planned transport works, communications links, streetlight locations and designated nature reserves, amongst many others. The infrastructure map was developed by New Economy and Salford City Council on behalf of Greater Manchester’s Local Enterprise Partnership and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s planning and housing team. Mike Blackburn, chairman of GM LEP, said: “The open data map is an important milestone in Greater Manchester’s ambitious growth plans.
