ICO: Businesses need to do to more to show how data is shared Companies need to be more proactive when it comes to informing consumers how their data is being shared online, a new study has suggested. Research from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) found that 85 per cent of people are worried over how their information is passed or sold on to other organisations, while the survey also showed that 77 per cent of people are concerned about the security of their data. The study found that 75 per cent of respondents believe it is important for private businesses acting on behalf of public authorities to be subject to the Freedom of Information Act.
