The UK now offers the most affordable broadband in Europe according to a new report. The minimum price of a basic broadband connection has fallen over the last year and people in the UK can now pay as little as 0.85pc of their income for a fixed broadband subscription – the best deal in Europe according to a new EU survey. Overall, the UK ranked sixth for digital performance out of the 28 EU member states. The speed of internet connectivity has also improved, with subscriptions for fast broadband increasing from 21pc in 2013 to 28pc in 2014. However, the report highlighted the need for progress in several areas such as the deployment of fibre, the number of trained IT professionals to fill the large and growing demand, and the integration of digital technology by businesses.
