The Texas General Land Office, which manages state controlled land and mineral rights has appointed its first open government expert. Little is known about what the role will result in, if say an open data portal is coming, but it appears to be an expansion of the records department. Hadassah Schloss, who was already managing the Land Office’s complaints relating to open-records requests and provided government transparency training for government entities across the state, will step into the open government role. Prior to working at the General Land Office, Schloss was the cost rules administrator for the Texas Attorney General’s office. She was appointed to the role by new Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush.
