Premier Mao Chi-kuo (毛治國) yesterday announced his expectations that Taiwan will grow from a “smart city” into a “smart life.” Mao made the remarks while attending the 2015 Smart City Summit and Expo in Nangang. “The problems of global urbanization can be addressed by the employment of smart technology, as the resource usage may be minimized, energy and efficiency maximized while maintaining sustainable development,” said Mao. “There are two reasons for Taiwan to develop its smart cities,” Mao said. “The first is the need for our information communication technology to develop potential and new possibilities, and the other is to reinforce Taiwan’s promising potential in the global market.
