Fourteen people have been appointed to city commissions, including two charter and five non-charter commissions, Mayor Robert Garcia announced Friday. The appointments include filling all seven seats on the newly-formed Technology and Innovation Commission, for which the city was awarded a grant last month. “I’m incredibly grateful that these outstanding citizens have agreed to serve Long Beach,” said Mayor Garcia. “I’m especially excited to assemble an all-star team for our new Technology & Innovation Commission. They will be a critical group tasked with helping us create the government of the future.” Collectively, this makes 75 commissioner appointments since Garcia took office five months ago.
