Colombia and Uruguay are the two leaders in Latin America in terms of open data, according to the Global Open Data Index. Colombia’s communications ministry said in a statement that Colombia, along with Uruguay, was positioned 12th in a list of 97 countries, at the same level as the Czech Republic and Sweden. The Global Open Data Index is published by the Open Knowledge Foundation. According to Mintic minister Diego Molano: “This is the first time Colombia has been measured by this index and we’ve been positioned amongst the 15 most highly ranked countries in the world.” According to Molano, Uruguay is the regional leader in terms of e-government. Brazil was ranked 26, Canada (22) and South Korea (28). The leaders of the index were the UK, Denmark and France.
