The county’s public school system announced that it will launch its own open data website on Jan. 5, 2015. The website, called OpenDataMCPS, will allow the public to search, sort and download information about the district — starting with Superintendent Joshua Starr’s recommended $2.4 billion operating budget for FY 2016. The move, which MCPS announced Tuesday, comes after Montgomery County introduced its own budget website in August. The county website allows users to compare operating and capital expenditures in bar graphs, delve into specific areas of each department’s spending and share and embed the charts they’ve created.
