Many politicians these days believe in the power of the Internet. More specifically, they believe in the power of social media. However, there is one problem. These politicians have no idea how they should wield this double-edged sword — Facebook, Twitter, Weibo, YouTube and a dozen more platforms popular with their various electorates. Furthermore, when campaigning, they might not know or have the tools required to better understand real-time sentiment and discover where voters are getting relevant information from. Ko Wen-je, the newly-elected Mayor of Taipei, might have been one such politician until he met Taiwan-based social media analytics startup Qsearch.
