City Councilman Mark Kersey is nearing the halfway point in his first four-year term representing District 5, an introduction to City Hall that did not turn out the way anyone expected when he was sworn into office in 2012. Despite the upheavals and three men occupying the mayor’s office within two years due to the events surrounding Bob Filner’s brief mayoral stint, Kersey said he has been pleased with his first foray into public office. His two primary focuses have been on infrastructure and increasing San Diegans’ access to city data. “I’m happy to report we’ve made good progress on both,” Kersey said when interviewed by the Rancho Bernardo News Journal last Friday.
