人工知能が進歩するにつれて防衛技術に組み込むことに努めてきた。最近では、国防総省共同の人工知能センターの設立、人工知能研究の中心拠点を命じた。JAICはAIをDoDに組み込むための最初の試みではない。国防総省(DoD)によって確立された機械学習とビッグデータを統合し、Mavenは、グーグル社がプログラムへの参加を終了すると発表した後JAICの一環として継続される予定である。

As artificial intelligence advances there has been an increased push to incorporate it into defense technology. Recently, the Department of Defense ordered the creation of the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center, which will be a hub for AI research. The JAIC is not the first attempt to incorporate AI into the DoD, however. Project Maven, which was established by the DoD to integrate machine learning and big data, will continue as part of JAIC after Google announced it will end its participation in the program.
