Chairman of this week’s banking inquiry, David Coleman, has flagged a push for banks to give customers more access to their data and a probe into how banks deal with non-monetary defaults ahead of Tuesday’s hearings.  The Commonwealth Bank’s Ian Narev, is scheduled to appear before the inquiry at 2pm on Tuesday. The ANZ’s Shayne Elliott will then appear at 9.15am on Wednesday, while the NAB’s Andrew Thorburn will appear on Thursday morning and Westpac’s Brian Hartzer on Thursday afternoon. Mr Coleman, a former banker and member for the seat of Banks, said he thinks the issue of competition is central and MPs are likely to discuss a move by UK regulators to allow consumers to change banks more easily through open data.
